Allyson Marta

Class of 2008-2009

Allyson Marta is a graduate from the JD class of 2009 from the law school at UBC. She currently works as an Associate in the Pensions & Benefits Group at the Toronto office of Stikeman Elliott LLP (“Stikeman Elliott”).

Prior to attending law school Marta obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Commerce at McGill University in 2004. While at law school she briefly studied at the University of Melbourne through an opportunity organized by the student exchange program at UBC. She also worked as a law student and adjudicator at WorkSafeBC’s British Columbia Worker’s Compensation Board.

Upon graduation, Marta articled at both Sherrard Kuzz LLP and the Ontario Labour Relations Board before being called to the Ontario Bar in 2010. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2011 and worked as pension and benefits lawyer at Spectrum HR Law LLP in Calgary following her admission to the Alberta Bar. Thereafter she returned to Toronto in 2013 to join Mercer—a large US-based human resources consulting firm.

Marta began working at Stikeman Elliott in 2017 and her practice involves a complex range of matters relating to pensions and benefits. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association. She also sits on the Ontario Regional Council of the Association of Canadian Pension Management and is a Member-at-Large of the Ontario Bar Association Pensions and Benefits Law Section.
