Alexander Buchanan Stewart graduated in 1962 from the joint commerce-law program at the University of British Columbia. He served articles at Meredith & Co, where he continued after articles until joining the legal department at B.C. Hydro. He later founded his own firm of LaCroix, Stewart, Siddall & Saunders, and sometime after that founded another firm. Stewart, Aulinger & Co was his firm until retirement.
Retiring from legal practice left Mr. Stewart with more times for his other passions. He kept his mind busy by working from his home office investing in the stock market, managing his real estate, and hunting down the next deal. He loved playing tennis, and was an accomplished pilot who owned both a Cessna 172 and a Bonanza. He flew planes until his deteriorating eyesight prevented him from climbing in the cockpit.
Alexander Buchanan Stewart was known for his generosity, his mentoring, and his magnetic personality. He passed away in June 2017.
