
Fred Green was born in Victoria, BC and spent most of his time on Vancouver Island. He spent a brief time in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia to study law, obtaining his LL.B. in 1962.
He was a lawyer until his appointment as a Judge to the Provincial Court, sitting in Victoria and Duncan. After his retirement from full-time Judging in 1995 he was appointed an Ad Hoc Judge, and travelled to sit in courts throughout the province, sitting in communities such as Prince George, Kelowna, Prince Rupert, Campbell River, Quesnel, and Williams Lake. As a Judge, Mr. Green was known for his innovative decisions and judicial leadership on isues such as impaired driving, Aboriginal justice, and youth and family justice. He served a term as President of the Provincial Court Judges' Association, and was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for his service on the Bench.
Following full retirement in 2006, Judge Green was able to devote more time to his hobbies of boating, motorcycling, gardening, traveling, and ancestry research.
