Hollis Bromley

Class of 2004-2005

Hollis Bromley is a Partner at Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP (“Alexander Holburn”), where she is currently a member of the Insurance practice group. Bromley’s own practice has a litigation focus with expertise in both insurance defense and coverage. She largely represents insurers in a variety of capacities and has similarly aided out of province motor vehicle insurers with both representation and legal advice. Over the course of her practice Bromley has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal, and the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal. Bromley also has experience representing professionals appearing before their own regulatory Colleges.

Bromley is no stranger to Vancouver, having been born and raised in the city she continues to call home. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in 2001 before graduating with the LLB class of 2005. She began working at Alexander Holburn in 2005 before being called to the British Columbia Bar in 2006. She has continued to work at Alexander Holburn since her call date.

A well-established professional across insurance law networks, Bromley is continually called upon to give presentations and publish on matters related to a wide range of insurance issues and complexities. She has delivered seminars for the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC and given presentations to the insurance industry at large. Her written work has appeared in the Canadian Underwriter, Claims Canada, and Adjuster’s Quarterly. Bromley also frequently contributes to the Insurance Law blog at Alexander Holburn. In recognition of her expertise in insurance law, Bromley was named a “Future Star” by Benchmark Canada in 2019.

Beyond her practice, publications, and presentations, Bromley is also a member of the Women Lawyer’s Forum and the Canadian Transport Lawyers Association. She continues to actively contribute to the Insurance Section of the Canadian Bar Association British Columbia Branch, where over time she has fulfilled a variety of roles including Lower Mainland Registration Officer and Secretary. Furthermore, in both 2010 and 2011 Bromley acted as Chair for the section. She currently sits on the Executive of ARC Group Canada, a network of independent law firms dedicated to delivering stellar insurance and risk management legal services.
