"Jay was a salt of the earth, genuinely good man who was the heart and soul of his family and friends," writes Oliver Hui in memoriam, "he believed in giving back to the community."
Jay Redmond studied law at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1987. He articled in Prince George, and after being called to the bar, obtained employment as an associate in Prince George with J. Robert Leverman. While in the North, Redmond met his second wife Christine, who at the time was a legal assistant at another firm. Also during his time in the Cariboo, he founded the "Frontier Law Club," a loose association of legal professionals transplanted in the region. Redmond returned to his hometown of Surrey in 1991, and soon became a partner of Campbell Redmond.
Redmond's work was varied, with solicitors work as his primary focus but still including some civil litigation and criminal defense. He donated his time to charitable organizations such as the Surrey Food Bank and the Surrey Christmas Bureau, and he was a member of the Surrey Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees.
Jay Redmond passed away in 2015.
