Keith Chatwine graduated from law school at UBC with the LLB class of 1997. He also received both a Bachelor of Science in 1993 and an MBA in 1997 from UBC. He currently works as a Partner in the Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups at the Calgary office of Stikeman Elliott LLP (“Stikeman Elliott”). Chatwine’s legal practice is diverse and deals with a variety of aspects of corporate law.
Chatwine was called to Alberta Bar in 1998 and worked as an Associate at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP until 2001 when he joined Stikeman Elliott. Over the course of his legal career Chatwine has received a wide range of accolades from leading legal organizations. In 2020 Chambers Canada named Chatwine as a leading lawyer in corporate and commercial law in Alberta. He also publishes extensively through Stikeman Elliott’s Knowledge Hub. Additionally, Chatwine often delivers presentations including his 2019 talk on public venture capital at the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange.
Since 2012 Chatwine has been integrally involved with the Alberta Securities Commission (“ASC”). From 2012 to 2016 he served as a Derivatives Advisory Committee Member for the ASC. He continues to serve as a Securities Advisory Committee Member—a role he has performed since 2012.
Chatwine also actively contributes to the larger legal community through a variety of affiliations. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, and the International Bar Association. Chatwine is also a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
