Miranda Lam is a partner in the commercial litigation group at McCarthy Tétrault where she focuses on diverse forms of shareholder disputes and is the retail sector lead for the national Retail and Consumer Markets Group. She dedicates her practice to problem solving and seeking the best possible resolution for her clients.
Ms. Lam graduated from the law school at UBC in 2002. She clerked at the BC Supreme Court before joining Davis LLP and subsequently McCarthy Tétrault LLP.
Ms. Lam has been acknowledged for her highly accomplished career and positive contributions to the legal profession through numerous awards. She received the YWCA Young Woman of Distinction award in 2001. For her academic achievement, athletic involvement, ability to work with and lead others, and character that is a moral force for those around her, Ms. Lam was designated the Honourable Ray Herbert All-Round Graduating Student by her LLB graduating class of 2002. In 2007, Ms. Lam was awarded the Outstanding Young Alumna Award by the Allard Law Alumni Association. This award recognizes an alumna/alumnus under 40 years of age whose endeavours in the practice of law, government service, the judiciary, business, legal academe, community service or other areas are worthy of recognition and have brought honour to the Allard School of Law.
Ms. Lam is extensively involved in her community. She has been sat on the board of numerous local organizations including Volunteer Vancouver, UBC Alumni Association, United Way of the Lower Mainland, and Imagine Canada. In 2018, she became the first female Chair of the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Foundation.
