Nigel Beckmann graduated from the law school at UBC with the LLB class of 1999. Prior to attending law school he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Queen’s University in 1984. He currently works as a Director at Whitelaw Twining Law Corporation (“Whitelaw Twining”) in Vancouver. His legal practice is litigation based with a core emphasis on insurance and personal injury defence. He leads the Defamation and Abuse Litigation groups at Whitelaw Twining.
Prior to pursuing a legal career, Beckmann worked for BC’s Council of Forest Industries which involved extensive work in Japan. He was called to the BC Bar in 2000 at which point he began his practice at Whitelaw Twining. Beckmann’s impressive litigation experience includes regular appearances before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
Beckmann regularly contributes to the broader legal community. He frequently gives presentations through the Canadian Bar Association on a variety of topics related to insurance, liability, and ethics. He also works closely with Access Justice through the organization’s pro bono clinics that offer free legal advice to clients in financial need.
