This annual event recognizes the achievements of distinguished alumni and faculty of the Allard School of Law through four awards: Lifetime Achievement Award, Alumni Award of Distinction, Alumni Award for Research, and Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.

Kinji Bourchier, member of the LLB class of 1999 and President of the Allard Law Alumni Association, gave opening remarks. This was followed by a welcome address from Dean Catherine Dauvergne, an alumna of the LLB class of 1995.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an extraordinary alumnus/alumna, honorary or otherwise, of the Allard School of Law, who has set a high standard for volunteerism, philanthropy and professional accomplishment, and has been an example for all who follow. The Right Honourable Kim Campbell, first female Prime Minister of Canada and member of the LLB class of 1983, was awarded the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award for her many remarkable accomplishments over her career.

Alumni Award of Distinction

The Alumni Award of Distinction recognizes an individual whose endeavors and outstanding achievements in the practice of law, government service, the judiciary, business, legal academe, community service or other areas have brought honour to the law school. Grand Chief Edward John of the TI’azt’en First Nation was awarded the 2018 Alumni Award of Distinction for his contribution towards social and economic justice for indigenous peoples of Canada.

Alumni Award for Research

Professor Benjamin J. Goold was awarded the 2018 Alumni Award for Research.
